Guests gather in the central lodge where they join in the camaraderie and share their happy experiences. We offers a fully licensed bar to make your stay pleasantly bubbly.The Bundu Pot restaurant treats you to sumptuous meals of South African flavourings. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, inviting new and interesting friendships.


Traditional braais are held outdoors around the crackling fire and the feeling of true Africa reaches every soul. For special occasssions and by advanced notice, our flexibility allows to spoil guests with breakfasts served on the River bank or bush dinners enjoyed under the star-studded sky, lit only by candles. Many of our vegetables, herbs and fruit are home grown at our sister farm, Tamboti Ridge, whose diary also supply us with fresh milk, butter, yoghurt and feta cheese.


Refresh with a dip in the swimming pool or cool off under the shade of the gazebo.The lodge operates on electricity and there is a back-up generator for the odd occasions when we have lightning storm and the electricity supply in the area is cut. 



Bush Chalets -  R650 pppn sharing

The standard bush chalets are appointed with stylish elegance. Relax on your private deck overlooking Lake Jozinie and the Lebombo Mountains and observe the curious behaviour of the scarlet-breasted sunbird or enjoy a visit from our resident Spotted Eagle Owl, Nandi. The chalets have either King size beds or twin beds and each sleep 2 guests.


Honeymoon chalet - R930 pppn sharing

Enjoy private moments in this spacious air-conditioned suite where the view of Lake Jozini is endless. The thatched chalets are built of local wood and stone and blend deliciously into their wild surrounding.


Family chalet - R650 pppn sharing

This roomy chalet is ideal for families; Mum and Dad enjoy a Kingsize extra length bed, while the rest of the family have fun in the bunk bed and pull out couch. This unit has the spectacular sunset view.


Wheelchair friendly

Lodge has one chalet that is wheelchair accessible with ramps as access. Please enquire with Reservations for more details.

Outdoor showers & En-suite bathrooms

Getting even closer to nature, enjoy the experience of taking a steamy outdoor shower under the stars. Each chalet is beautifully finished with attention to detail, such as the custom made basins and brass taps in the bathrooms.

Indigenous Gardens

Well manicured pathways link the chalets with the central lodge. Marvel at the extra ordinary indigenous gardens hosting over 60 species of aloes. While strolling from the chalets, you may come across duiker, zebra and guinea fowl that roam around the lodge.

For the Kids

We love having children share the bush experience but realize they need more to stay entertained. Puzzles, building blocks, paints and colouring in sets etc. are available on request from Reception. The kitchen makes play dough for your children to get creative.
There is a DVD player in the boma so feel free to ask at Reception should your child like to watch a movie. Only a small selection of movies are available, alternatively you are welcome to provide your own DVDs.
The Lodge does not have a Play Station, but you are welcome to bring your own. Please understand there is a strict volume level so as not to disturb the guests who have come to visit us for the peace and tranquility of the bush. Should there be a sports event showing that the adults would like to watch, this would take preference.
Child Minding
  • R50 per hour available during game drives and dinner. 
  • Please give us some notice should you require a child minder. 


Kids Dinner

  • Is served from 6pm by arrangement. Please advise preferred meals so that our Chef is prepared.  


Swimming pool
  • Please note that the swimming pool has no safety fence and is deeper than the average swimming pool. Supervised swimming is preferable.


Wine Cellar

Constructed under the deck of the central lodge, is the earthy wine cellar offering an interesting selecting of wines. The cellar is a wonderful setting for romantic dinners so if you are planning something special, let us know to reserve this spot for you.


Tiger fishing

Tiger fishing is the truly exciting activity, which we offer. These ferocious fighting game fish are rare to South African waters however enjoy these sub tropical conditions. Good sizes have been caught in the Pongolapoort Lake where the official record is 8.3kg. There is also a ranch dam, which is stocked with bass as well as tiger fish. The lodge has a good selection of fishing rods and tackle for hire, but bring your own fly rods and tackle. Fishing trips are conducted in a 16ft Hustler (Max 2 anglers) and 18ft Dorado (Max 3 anglers).

Boat hire includes one of our talented and enthusiastic guides who skippers the boat and shows you the know-how and hot spots on the Pongolapoort Lake. 


Game Drives

An open landcruiser comfortably seating 10 people is used for these events. The morning game drive departs between 6am and 7am seasonally. The afternoon game drive departs between 3pm and 4pm. The drives are 3hrs of fantastic bush experience where our rangers enlighten you on all aspects of nature.Game drives take place on the Phongolo Nature Reserve, the neighboring National Reserve, which is the first Reserve to be proclaimed in Africa by Paul Kruger in 1894. The Reserve has an excellent population of wild life from white rhino, wildebeest, zebra, warthog, giraffe to a wide variety of antelope.

A 3 hour drive conducted in the open Landcruisers comfortably seating 9 people.

Boat Cruises

A must when visiting Lake Jozini to experience the wonderful birdlife and wildlife on the water’s edge. The 3 hour excursion on the canopied 12 seater viewing boat.

The area is an extremely rich and rewarding birding destination, boasting around 400 species of birds. Lodge has a wide variety of exciting birding habitats on offer most of which is typical Zululand Thornveld. Birding is enjoyed either on the game drive, boat cruise where a fascinating variety of water birds are seen from the water, and guided walks with our experienced game rangers. 


Rhino Tracking

Conducted on the neighboring property – you meet your guide at the Mvubu Lodge who can mix the walk up with more a drive depending on your interests and fitness level.No children under 16 years allowed. Maximum number of people is 8 per activity.Advanced notice is preferable.

 Bush Wedding

Lodge is an ideal venue to host an intimate, tranquil, bush wedding.


The ceremony is held on the large wooden deck of the central lodge where the view is a stunning back drop of the Lebombo Mountains, Lake Jozini and the Pongola Game Reserve. The reception takes place in the restaurant area of the Central Lodge so the occasion is consolidated to one stunning area of stone, wood and thatch.


Alternatively, a more casual celebration can be held at the Boma under the stars.


Choose dates that co-incide with a full moon as this makes a spectacular show as it rises up over the mountains and gives the lake a silvery glimmer.


Our in-house wedding planner will contact you to plan the wonderful day’s event and then a more accurate quote will be forwarded with the bride’s requests. As all budget’s are different, herewith ball park figures.


Lodge weddings allow the bridal party to enjoy being involved with many areas of organizing such a specialoccasion. This makes it a lot of fun for everyone!
