Pennington is a small coastal village situated on the south coast of KwaZulu Natal in South Africa. The village is known for sugarcane and dairy production, but is mainly an attraction for holiday makers during the long South African summers from November to April each year. The town is an absolute beautiful coastal village approximately 75kms south of central Durban and travelers can expect to drive
approximately and hour’s drive from the King Shaka airport. Pennington was originally a farm owned by the Pennington family and
today attracts thousands of visitors each year. This seaside village is one of the prettiest woodland settings along the coast of KwaZulu
Natal and boasts one of the finest remaining protected coastal forests in South Africa. The area is blessed with wonderful indigenous trees and also known as a bird lovers paradise. Pennington offers visitors and residents long, lazy days on tranquil beaches and with as many visits to this village I was fascinated by swimming in an ocean that is so warm all year round as it forms part of the Indian Ocean. There are a number of activities  such as swimming, surfing, snorkeling, angling as there are plenty of fish to catch either deep-sea, off the rocks or in the surf. Bazley Beach (one of my favorites) is an ideal venue for offshore wind-surfing, jet skiing and para-gliding. Golfers can also enjoy two fantastic Golf Courses and an amazing driving range  with excellent putting greens.

The local village has all the amenities anyone would require such as two mini supermarkets & bakeries, pub, cafes, restaurants, pharmacy, bottle store and various craft shops but it is advisable that visitors do their main shopping in Scottburgh as this is also the closest town to Pennington to purchase fuel. A variety of accommodation is available in the form of high quality and affordable hotels, lodges, B&B’s, self-catering and camping sites. Pennington is truly one of my best holiday destinations and I can highly recommend this unique village to holiday makers.
